Picking cotton lint out of bolls by hand is slow, but with less waste. The traditional cotton pickers rotated front roller to stir out cotton lint out of cotton bolls. The efficiency was much improved but leaving many wastes.
CRCHI developed the next generation cotton pickers equipped with sensors next to the roller. These sensors work like nerve endings. When the machine is moving, the resistance force data was sent to the computer system, allowing automatic control of the rotation speed. The technology ensures the picking quality, and reduces the driver’s work intensity. It achieves high efficiency with picking rate above 93%.
The flammable cotton is densely packed in the field, close to villages where farmers live. Once the cotton field catches fire, serious casualties may occur. With the fuel tank in a cotton picker, and very complicated electric circuits, one spark during work can ignite the cotton packed in the collection box at the back.
CRCHI next generation cotton pickers are equipped with a set of fire-fighting equipment. Whenever fire is detected by sensors in he cotton collection box, the cotton picker shall immediately activate the fire extinguishing system and spray the water in the box.
Furthermore, to prevent the electric sparks caused by the HV electricity overhead lines around the cotton field from igniting the cotton in the cotton picker, the machine is equipped with anti-electricshock alarm device, which senses the electric field around. When the picker is 3 meters away from the high-voltage line, the machine shall be switched off automatically to ensure safety.
